Chapter Eternal
I have unfortunately
sent several messages through the years to let you
know that one of our own has passed into our Chapter
Eternal. This is undoubtedly the hardest I
have ever written. It is with great sorrow that I
report that Jim “Otto” Selzer ‘70, our long-time
brother and friend, passed away late Sunday
evening. Jim had been battling
diabetes for more than 45 years.
Jim was a dedicated
member of our fraternity. Most recently, in 2008,
Jim was elected as the 49th International President
of Delta Tau Delta. He was honored by our chapter
at STAG on Saturday evening with the dedication of
the James O. Selzer formal living room at the
Shelter. Although he wasn’t able to join us, we are
so happy to have shared the evening with his wife
and family. There is no doubt that Delta Tau Delta
held a special place in the heart of the entire
Selzer family. Jim will be deeply missed by us all.

Awards from Division Conference
Over the past few days, several undergraduates from
Gamma Theta have been attending the Western Plains
Division Conference in Houston, TX. Our chapter has
heard its name called several times over the past
few days to receive various awards, but none were
bigger than the one received this evening. We are
extremely proud to announce that Gamma Theta was
awarded the Hugh Shields Award tonight by the
DTD International Office. This is the most
prestigious award that can be bestowed upon a
chapter of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. It is
awarded annually to only the top 10
chapters in the country. We are truly humbled
and, needless to say, ecstatic. This award is truly
a recognition of our hard work over the previous
year and we're happy to share it with you, our
alums.
Oh, and as if the Hugh Shields weren't enough, we
also brought home the following hardware:
-
Most Improved
Chapter in the Western Plains Conference (for
the second year in a row)
-
Court of Honor
Award (presented to only the top 20% of all DTD
chapters)
-
Excellence in
Adopt-a-School Award
-
Excellence in
Recruitment Award
-
Recognition of 25%
Growth in Recruitment Award
-
Recognition of
Meeting or Exceeding Recruitment Goals
-
Outstanding Chapter
President Award (Jeff Skillman)
The 2010 Court of Honor
and Hugh Shields awards are the 6th and 4th,
respectively, in our chapter's history.

is available in
this story from the Baker Orange.
